
Sean Jackman was born and raised in Newfoundland, Canada. He has balanced a career in public school teaching and church music for more than twenty-five years. Sean's experience in public school teaching includes K-5 general music, middle school and high school choir, mathematics and elementary classroom. Currently he teaches elementary general music in Plymouth-Canton Community Schools (Plymouth, Michigan) and, since January 2018, has been the Director of Music & Organist at Antioch Lutheran Church (ELCA) in Farmington Hills, Michigan. He holds undergraduate degrees in Music and Music Education from Memorial University of Newfoundland (Newfoundland, Canada) and a graduate degree in organ performance from the University of Toronto. From 1999-2002, Sean studied at the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor as an organ student of Marilyn Mason and earned the Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in Performance (2002) and the Master's Degree in Music Education (2005). He completed the Ed.D. (Music Education) from Teachers College, Columbia University in 2017. While at the University of Michigan and Teachers College, Columbia University, Sean was an Instructor in the Music Education Department. He holds membership in NAfME (The National Association for Music Education), the College Music Society, the Ontario College of Teachers, the Michigan Education Association, the Association of Lutheran Church Musicians and the American Guild of Organists.
